Question 1:
The content issue that I chose is about the flood issue which is happening presently in Kuala Lumpur. The widespread flooding seen in many states in Malaysia in the last three days was caused by one in a 100 year heavy rainfall. This news is newsworthy to let audiences know how the situation is now in Kuala Lumpur.
SOURCE FROM THE GUARDIAN
Based on my observation, the way The Guardian news publication presents their news story adopts the statistics in the lead, which tells the audiences how bad the flood issue is in Kuala Lumpur. Other than that, this news publication also mentioned more situations there in that particular place. They also take the interviewee’s interview section into the story to highlight how the situation makes them difficult and also let the audiences know more about their feelings in the issue.
Besides that, Malay Mail news publications adopted the straight 5W1H as their news lead. They use direct lead as their news lead to tell readers straight to the point that what is happening in Kuala Lumpur. The most information is from the Environment and Water Ministry secretary-general, this information is important and accurate to let readers know the situation.
SOURCE FROM MALAY MAIL
The Guardian used few multimedia elements such as text and photographs that are related to the particular issues. They have used the hypertext which allows readers to go through the particular link to know more about Malaysia. Then, they also use photographs to put the readers in that situation and also let the readers know how bad the flood is in that particular place. I think for the Malay Mail news publication, they don't really use too many multimedia elements in their news story. They just only put one photo and the content in their news story. If they put some videos or audio inside the news story, it can attract more readers to come to read the news and also they can also easily understand the situation about the disasters.
